Description:The Purpose of this Position:

The Business Development Associate is responsible for creating, pursuing, proposing on and closing new business opportunities for the company, working under the direction of the Director of Business Development. The Associate is responsible for tracking and following-up on new business leads and remains a participant throughout the sales process. Additionally, the position may require a moderate amount of travel as the company opens new markets and niches, and the Specialist will need to display a self-starting, self-motivated work ethic to develop new contacts in the public and private sectors in these new and existing markets.

Business Development (90%)
•Responsible for making initial and follow-up contacts with new potential MBC clients as directed by President, Director of Business Development, and through self-generated leads.
•Qualifies and rates leads using “Land-Mission-Money” criteria.
•Maintains accurate and current spreadsheets listing project pipeline, status, and award dates for use in weekly Business Development meetings with President and Director of Business Development.
•Works with potential and new clients to help define their program, present alternate layouts and construction methodologies, and define the overall scope of their projects.
•Prepares written proposals and reviews speculative preliminary design drawings, coordinates the preparation of budget estimates, and makes presentations to potential clients.
•Attends public meetings and hearings as required to obtain necessary project approvals from governmental and regulatory officials.
•Assists potential and new clients in obtaining sources for project funding.
•Meets with President and Director of Business Development on a weekly basis to discuss upcoming projects, prospects, new and existing leads, status of pipeline projects, and new sales strategies for developing new business opportunities for the company.
•Develops new market niches and prepares and sends mailings to niche-specific list of prospects.
•Attends professional seminars regarding sales, general construction, liability issues and conveys pertinent highlights to staff.


Business Development TQM (10%)
•Works with Director of Business Development and TQM team to produce Business Development TQM Manual, HUD Manual and other standardized procedures manuals for use by MBC Business Development staff.

Qualifications:Seeking an energetic and team oriented Business Development Associate. Qualified candidates will have at least 5 years experience in the construction field attracting new business. Must be a self-starter, have excellent written, oral communication skills, flexible and will to learn. A bachelor’s degree in business or a construction related field is preferred. Travel may be required.
